So Flat Rate is new to you?

Today's Tip!

Electrical Flat Rate Pricing has been around for years. Long before we constructed price guides, we All had them. Your 100 amp, 200 amp Service prices are a great example of it. How about your per unit pricing, that you used for figuring your quick takeoffs. In the commercial world we would have our per unit price, and assembly prices for figuring multi-million dollar bids. So if you are new at this, remember that you have been doing this for years. Get all the conversations out of your head about this being new, weird or different. If you have set everything up properly, you now have a price book, and have calculated your true hourly break even. By making this shift solid in your mind, your Technicians, and Customers will know that this is just what it is. A professional well organized, honest service business.

Welcome to electric flat rate pricing

Welcome to electric flat rate pricing. My name is Jim Kavallines, and I am a consultant and speaker in the Flat rate service and repair business. Up until 2003, I owned the largest pure electrical flat rate service company in the state of CT. If you have a flat rate service company, or are thinking of starting one, you came to the right place. I will be posting a tips, that deals either with your technicians, customer service, pricing, flat rate book, break even, and a whole array of other items.

Tip #1

Most of us spend extensive time training our techs to sell. Have you ever just reminded them that they are the expert, and to offer the customer three solutions to there problem, so the customer can shop your three quotes, instead of sending you home with a dispatch fee only?

Tip #2

When figuring your break even, are you also including past debt, profit, and funds for expansion such as a new truck, tools, training costs. etc.

Tip #3

When a customer service rep is having a hard time booking a call, and has exhausted all of the scripts, do they turn the call over to a more qualified Manager, who has the ability & skills, to save the call?
